TEULE KENYA LAUNCHES “DARE TO SMILE” CAMPAIGN TO RAISE FUNDS TO SUPPORT ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN

“Dare To Smile” was launched on November 30th, 2014, on Indiegogo to raise $60,000 for its various projects and services, and is set to end on the 29th of January, 2015. The campaign dares contributors to bring smiles and joy to the children by funding specific needs, and in return they receive fun and upbeat “perks” such as photos and videos of laughing and smiling children – the effect of which also brings smiles, joy and a bit of fun to donors. There are 9 possible levels of giving that range from $10 to $5000 with matching “perks”.

The “Dare To Smile” idea is based on the exciting psychological “facial feedback effect” theory that states that smiling makes you happy and that the visual sight of a smiling face elicits the same subconscious reaction.

The proceeds will help to meet the costs of feeding, clothing, educating, and providing health-care to the children; in addition, they hope to raise funds for bigger projects that include, the renovation of dilapidated structures and the installation of renewable energy structures such as solar panels.

Teule Kenya, previously HCI (Homeless Children International) Kenya, was founded in 1996 by John High, an American missionary who has since dedicated his life to the cause and plight of homeless children across Kenya. Teule, which means “belonging” in the Swahili language, aims to provide stable, and loving homes to children who have been abused, and abandoned. Over the years the organization has grown tremendously and has seen the lives of over 250 children transformed and empowered through the hard work and dedication of a team of passionate individuals from around the world. They have contacts and expanding operations in Kenya, Canada, USA, and Japan.
